Sorry, I gave the wrong date for the minutes, that was for the connection fee increase. The minutes for the Annual rate increase was on June 12, 2006

Did you know that Alpine Springs offers a payment plan? See our website at http://www.alpinesprings.org, go to “board of directors policies” and click on “budget & finance policies” see “policy# 2.5.0″. Additionally you can review the districts official minutes with all the official information rather than suspected reasons for the rate increase under the section marked “agenda & minutes”, review the minutes from the Public Hearing on July 13, 2007 where all homeowners were notified by mail about this meeting. Everyone and anyone is encouraged to attend the monthly board meetings of the District which are held the second Friday of the month at 8:30 a.m. at the Alpine Springs County Water District Office Board Room. Letters are also an accepted form for those who are not in town during the public meetings.

I agree. I was shocked when I received my $1000+ bill last week. It seems like it would be very simple to break that large bill into 12 monthly payments.

I would be happy to support any letter writing/calling campaign that is coordinated. Just let me know.

Thanks for the great suggestion.

I have had several discussions with these folks since their initial plan to increase their reserves caused a bit of local stink about 4 years ago. While their public comments about the reason for their need to increase their reserves has morphed over the years, from future plans to improve capacity to fire fighting efforts, it is clear that the increases are not tied to increased economic costs for water services.

If you compare your bills over the years you will find the huge run up in price (300%-400%) is tied to the number of sewer connections each unit has and the base service rate for a 3/4 inch line. Most units in Phase 1 have 3 sewer connections and 1 water line.

This was a decision made by the water district’s board despite some public criticism. It will be interesting to see if a change in billing policy will occur. It is needed.

There is also a funny line item on my invoice, one is Old Meter and the other is New Meter for Metered Usage. Anyone know what that is all about? I’ve got a call into their office about this and I am waiting to hear back.
